Charleston Google Ads Management
Charleston Google Ads management starts from the question behind a search: what did the person typing this want, and is that worth paying for? We build search campaigns for businesses in Charleston, SC around those answers, count every call and form entry, and keep trimming whatever does not earn its click. Ad spend goes to Google from your own card, apart from our fee.
Look at the page before you bid onto it
Before an account is built, we read the results page your ad would join. The first thing on it is rarely an ad. On the six phrases below, Google put a map block on top of five of them and an AI answer on one, and its sponsored slot sat empty on every one, which tells you more about the shape of the contest than a keyword tool does.
Six searches as Google showed them on one day, with no ads on any
| Search typed | Google AI answer on top | Map pack | Paid ads |
|---|---|---|---|
| charleston seo | Absent | Present | Absent |
| charleston roofing | Absent | Present | Absent |
| charleston tree service | Absent | Present | Absent |
| best plumber in charleston | Present | Present | Absent |
| charleston hvac | Absent | Present | Absent |
| charleston dentist | Absent | Present | Absent |
Google listed no sponsored results for any of the six. Every one carried a map block, and only best plumber in Charleston opened with an AI answer. The roofing, tree service and dentist phrases are rows in this table and nothing more; we are reading what Google chose to display, not anything about those trades.
A different day can look different, and an empty sponsored slot is not proof that nobody advertises. What it does tell a new account is that the first goal is plain: be the clear answer to the phrase, with ad words that match it, a page that matches the ad and a phone that rings.
Where a Charleston Google Ads budget goes first
With the page so map-heavy, a search campaign and a Maps profile are working the same results screen. We keep them aligned: the phrase in the ad is the phrase on the landing page, and the business name, hours and phone read the same in both places. The profile side is covered on the Maps listing page; this page is about the paid half.
Searchers in Charleston, South Carolina rarely type one fixed phrase. Some add a place such as West Ashley or nearby Summerville, some ask for the best business of a kind, some type only the trade and let their phone supply the location. Each of those is a different intent, and a single catch-all keyword list pays for all of them at the same price while serving none of them well. The accounts we build separate them from the start. A map block on top also means a newer business stands against review counts: the middle HVAC listing in our Maps pull holds 500, the middle plumber listing 170, and ad words have to earn the click with those numbers in view.
Four trades, twelve months: when Charleston searching swells
| Business type | Search interest high | Search interest low |
|---|---|---|
| HVAC | July and January | October and December |
| Plumber | July and January | November and September |
| Pest control | January and May | December and November |
| Landscaping | March and May | December and November |
HVAC reads 1.52 against an average month of 1.00 in July and January and 0.81 in October and December. Plumber searching tops out at 1.42 in the same two months and bottoms at 0.88 in November and September. Pest control is at 1.32 in January and May and 0.63 in December and November, and landscaping at 1.49 in March and May and 0.59 in December and November.
For a search account the curve moves two things: how large the daily cap should be and how wide the keyword list runs. We raise both ahead of the heavy months, once the earlier months have shown which phrases bring calls, and tighten them again when interest falls away.
Search wording by intent, and where each kind lands in a Charleston account
| Wording in the search box | What the person probably wants | Where we put it |
|---|---|---|
| [trade] Charleston | A business to call now, place already chosen | Its own tightly built group, first in line for budget |
| [trade] near me | The same readiness, with the phone supplying the place | Grouped beside the first, with area targeting doing the narrowing |
| [trade] Mount Pleasant | A business in one named place | A group per place you serve, so the ad can name it |
| best [trade] in Charleston | Comparing, usually after reading reviews | Ad words that lean on what is true and checkable, sent to a page that proves it |
| [trade] jobs | Someone hunting for work, not a service | Blocked as a negative keyword |
| how to do [trade] yourself | A learner with no budget for you | Blocked as a negative keyword |
| free [trade] | A search for no cost at all | Blocked unless your offer matches it |
Place by place: how an account is split to match where people type
| Place typed or targeted | What the ad can say | What gets compared each month |
|---|---|---|
| Downtown Charleston | The place name in the headline, and the hours that fit your day | Calls and form entries against the money spent on that group |
| West Ashley | A line that names the area and the service together | Whether a place group earns more than the general one |
| James Island | The island named, so the reader sees their own address in the ad | Calls from this group against the next place over |
| Johns Island | The same pattern, with wording kept distinct from James Island | Whether it deserves a group or a share of a larger one |
| North Charleston | A separate group for people who type the nearby place by name | Its cost per call against the Charleston group |
| Mount Pleasant | The nearby place named beside Charleston, SC, never alone | Whether searches there look more like Charleston's or like their own |
What gets counted and cleaned for a Charleston, SC account, before launch and every week after
- A tracking number on each ad, so a call from an ad can be told from a call that came another way
- A minimum call length set, so a hang-up is not logged as a lead
- Form entries counted as their own event, separate from page views
- The search terms report read every week, with each irrelevant phrase added to the negative list
- Location settings reviewed, so people in your area are not mixed up with people merely interested in it
- Ad text written for each intent group, not one set of ads for everything
- Landing pages that carry the phrase in the ad and a way to call or send a form without scrolling
- One change per week to a budget, a headline or a page, so a cause can be named
- A monthly summary of spend, calls, form entries and the search terms that were blocked
The measurements are taken before the campaign is switched on, so the first week already produces numbers worth comparing.
Bing Ads (Microsoft Advertising) and Local Services Ads, kept in their own lanes
Bing Ads (Microsoft Advertising) is a second search network with its own audience and its own account. We treat it as a separate test beside Google: built the same way, counted on its own, and kept only if its calls justify its spend. It is part of the Paid Ads plans, and the paid advertising overview lays out how the three platforms relate.
Google also runs Local Services Ads, a different product with its own sign-up. Whether your trade is accepted into it, and whether it covers your side of the Charleston area in South Carolina, is set by Google's own rules for that program, so look at those before planning around it. What we manage here are the standard search campaigns described above.
Five assumptions about a Charleston Google Ads account
HeardThe biggest daily budget wins the click.
ActuallyBudget buys the chance to be shown. Whether the click and the call follow depends on how closely the ad, the page and the phrase match.
HeardEvery click is a buyer.
ActuallyA click is a visit. Calls and form entries are the first numbers worth reading, and even those are checked against what actually became work.
HeardOnce it is built, an account can be left alone.
ActuallySearch terms change weekly and new wasted phrases appear. An untouched account slowly pays for people who were never going to call, and one that hangs wrong is looked at in its search terms, not simply fed more budget.
Charleston Google Ads questions owners bring to the first call
Does my Charleston business need a landing page for each group of ads?
Not always a new page, but each group should land somewhere that repeats its phrase and offers a call or a form straight away. A page that covers a different service than the ad offered wastes the click. We list which groups already have a fitting page and which need one built.
Which calls count as coming from my ads?
Calls to the tracking number on an ad, above the minimum length we set together, along with form entries sent from the page the ad led to. Calls that come through other routes are counted separately, so the two sources are never blended into one total.
Will you run Google Ads and my Maps profile together?
Ads come with the Paid Ads plans and the Maps profile belongs to the Organic Growth plans, so the two can be combined or taken one at a time. They read the same results page and are kept consistent, but each is judged on its own numbers.
Whose card does Google bill?
Yours. The ad account sits in your name and Google draws click charges directly from your card. Our fee is a separate monthly line, and you can look at the ad account yourself at any time.
Search campaigns arrive with a Paid Ads plan
Google Ads management is part of every Paid Ads plan for South Carolina businesses, on one platform or more.
Fees are set by how many platforms you run, and the ad budget stays separate, paid to Google from your own card.
